Moravian and Bohemian wines confirmed their top quality in the world competitions in 2011

The year 2011 brought to Moravian and Bohemian wine-makers a lot of significant success and awards in international competitions. In three of them our wines obtained the title of absolute champion and this fact confirms a long trend of Moravian and Bohemian wines heading towards the world top. Presentations of local wines were financially supported by the Winegrowers’ Fund with the organisational help of the National Wine Centre.

St. Martin’s wine 2011 is here!

At 11 am on Friday 11 November for the seventh time we shall witness the opening of the first bottles of wine of the new vintage – St. Martin’s wines. This year wine lovers can look forward to a record approximately 2 000 000 bottles of white, rosé and red St. Martin’s wines in shops, restaurants and wine cellars.

Radomil Baloun Winery from Velké Pavlovice once again defends its award in Bergamo

Between 13th and 15th October the seventh edition of the international wine competition "Emozioni dal Mondo: Merlot e Cabernet Insieme" (Emotions of the World: Merlot and Cabernet Together) took place in the wine capital of Lombardy, the heart of the Valcalepio DOC region, this year in the historical environs of the Visconti Palace not far from Bergamo.

St. Martin’s wines to fill shops and restaurants next month

Within the mere six years of their recent existence, St. Martin’s wines have become a literally nationwide phenomenon. Their popularity is increasing hand in hand with consumption year by year, to the delight of winemakers and their customers. After last year’s sale of over a million and a half bottles of St. Martin’s wines, it is most likely that this year the two million mark will be reached. The course of the harvest so far indicates that thanks to the exceptionally favourable September weather, the wines of the 2011 vintage shall be of excellent quality.

Record number of awards from London for red wines of Moravia

In the prestigious international wine competition Decanter World Wine Awards staged in London, a record number of red wines from the Czech Republic met with success. 12 out of a total of 18 red Moravian wine entries received recognition of some kind. This bears witness to the growing quality of our red wines, with evaluators in even the greatest international contests now beginning to take notice. And neither did our white and rosé wines miss out.

The first ever great gold medal in history for Moravian wine in Luxembourg

In one of the largest and most important wine competitions in the world, Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, our winemakers have yet again succeeded dramatically in taking the stage with the publishing of the final results. Just like last year, they have brought 21 medals home. The most prestigious of these was the great gold medal earned by wine producer Josef Valihrach for his Chardonnay, special selection of grapes 2007. This is the first time ever one of our wineries has managed to bring a great gold medal from Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.

Cuvée 2011 Ostrava

The ninth edition of the singular international competition of coupage, assemblage, blends and branded wines was held on 18th and 28th April in the Club of Ostravan Wine Evaluators, K.AH.A.N., in conjunction with the Ostrava Clarion Congress Hotel and the National Wine Centre which is based in Valtice.

St. Martin’s Wines Rides Again!

On 11 November at 11 a.m. for already the sixth time, the time will come for opening the first bottles of the new vintage – St. Martin’s wines. Awaiting wine lovers this year in stores, restaurants and wine bars all over the country will be a record number of up to 1,750,000 bottles of white, rosé and red St. Martin’s wines, ca. 50% more than last year.

19th Edition of the International Wine Competition

Ostrava 3rd – 5th June 2010

The 19th edition of the international wine competition VINOFORUM, founded by the former Minister of Agriculture of Slovenia Jože Protner and the Slovak professor of oenology Fedor Malík in 1991, took place in the principal metropolis of the Moravian-Silesian region of the Czech Republic. Since its founding, VINOFORUM has been hosted on more than one occasion by such Central European countries as Slovenia, the Slovak Republic, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Austria, while for the first time the baton will be taken by Poland next year. VINOFORUM has as its goal to equate the quality of wines from the Central European regions with those from the rest of the world and beyond that to widen wine culture not only in those places that are firmly wedded to its traditions.

Wines from the Czech Republic for the second time together at the London International Wine Fair

This year for the second time Moravian and Bohemian wines will be presented together on the National stall of the wines from the Czech Republic at the prestigious London International Wine Fair in Great Britain on May 18 – 20 at ExCeL London.

Similarly as in the last years, also this year Moravian and Bohemian wine-makers will present their production at the ProWein international wine exhibition. The world famous wine and spirit exhibition will be hold in German Düsseldorf on March 21 – 23, 2010. Our wines will be presented already for the 5th time within the official exposition of the Czech Republic.

On November 11 the first bottles of young wines under the label “St. Martin wine” will start to be open

Already for the fourth year the wine-makers from the Czech Republic sell their young wines under the common label ST. MARTIN (SVATOMARTINSKÉ), which marketing is supported by the Winegrowers’ Fund. The St. Martin wine will go to shops only on November 11 and the new wine year will be welcomed at many celebrations.

Phenomenal Success for Moravian Wines Among the Greats of the World in Monte-Carlo

Moravian and Czech Wine at International Trade Fair ProWein in Düsseldorf

For the second time already, Moravian and Czech wines will be exhibited at the official Czech presentation at International Trade Fair ProWein in Germany. This renowned international wines and spirits trade fair runs from the 18th to the 20th of March 2007 in Düsseldorf in North-Rhine Westphalia. Czech national stall will cover the area of 63m² and will be prepared under the auspices of the National Wine Centre. Except for the Centres presentation, the following companies will also be shown at the stall: Bohemia Sekt, a.s, Moravské vinařské závody Bzenec, s.r.o., Soare Sekt, a.s. and Spielberg CZ, s.r.o.
