Ostrava 3rd – 5th June 2010
The 19th edition of the international wine competition VINOFORUM, founded by the former Minister of Agriculture of Slovenia Jože Protner and the Slovak professor of oenology Fedor Malík in 1991, took place in the principal metropolis of the Moravian-Silesian region of the Czech Republic. Since its founding, VINOFORUM has been hosted on more than one occasion by such Central European countries as Slovenia, the Slovak Republic, Croatia, the Czech Republic and Austria, while for the first time the baton will be taken by Poland next year. VINOFORUM has as its goal to equate the quality of wines from the Central European regions with those from the rest of the world and beyond that to widen wine culture not only in those places that are firmly wedded to its traditions.

This year for the second time Moravian and Bohemian wines will be presented together on the National stall of the wines from the Czech Republic at the prestigious London International Wine Fair in Great Britain on May 18 – 20 at ExCeL London.

Similarly as in the last years, also this year Moravian and Bohemian wine-makers will present their production at the ProWein international wine exhibition. The world famous wine and spirit exhibition will be hold in German Düsseldorf on March 21 – 23, 2010. Our wines will be presented already for the 5th time within the official exposition of the Czech Republic.

For the 16th time Paris hosted the prestigious international wine competition Vinalies Internationales. Once again Moravian and Bohemian wines achieved great success when they gained a total of 9 gold and 26 silver medals.

This year for the first time Moravian and Bohemian wines will be presented together on the National stand of the wines from the Czech Republic at the prestigious London International Wine Fair in Great Britain on May 12 – 14. The LIWF is one of the most important world wine fairs.

Last year the Moravian and Bohemian wine-growers managed to follow the great success from the previous years. In the competitions that took place all over the world the Moravian and Bohemian wine-growers achieved many prestigious awards and once again they proved that they belong among the world top.

Already for the fourth year the wine-makers from the Czech Republic sell their young wines under the common label ST. MARTIN (SVATOMARTINSKÉ), which marketing is supported by the Winegrowers’ Fund. The St. Martin wine will go to shops only on November 11 and the new wine year will be welcomed at many celebrations.

Moravian wine-makers gained 140 medals
One of the most popular wine competitions in the world – the Austrian AWC Vienna – published this year’s results at the Gala Evening of Wine at the Viennese City Hall. 7959 wines from 1422 producers from all around the world took part in the competition. The Czech Republic was represented by the all-time high 159 samples, which is the highest number in the history of our participations in foreign competitions so far. The wine-makers from the Czech Republic reached a tremendous success – one of the medals or diplomas “seal of approval” were given to record 140 wines, that is unbelievable 88 %.

Moravian vineyards produce wines of endless diversity, exceptional for their fruity taste, zest, wide spectrum of bouquets and typically full body. The diversity of Moravian wines is a function of the number of varieties, the changeability of the country, the terroir of the vineyards and the thousand years of experience of the Moravian wine makers.

For the second time already, Moravian and Czech wines will be exhibited at the official Czech presentation at International Trade Fair ProWein in Germany. This renowned international wines and spirits trade fair runs from the 18th to the 20th of March 2007 in Düsseldorf in North-Rhine Westphalia. Czech national stall will cover the area of 63m² and will be prepared under the auspices of the National Wine Centre. Except for the Centres presentation, the following companies will also be shown at the stall: Bohemia Sekt, a.s, Moravské vinařské závody Bzenec, s.r.o., Soare Sekt, a.s. and Spielberg CZ, s.r.o.
