One sun shines on our vineyards. However, they give incredibly varied wines outstanding in their original fruity tones and spiciness, a rich spectrum of aromatic agents and a harmonic full taste. This is the reason why Moravian and Bohemian wines are so popular among lovers of the quality and optimally matured wines.

The year 2011 brought to Moravian and Bohemian wine-makers a lot of significant success and awards in international competitions. In three of them our wines obtained the title of absolute champion and this fact confirms a long trend of Moravian and Bohemian wines heading towards the world top. Presentations of local wines were financially supported by the Winegrowers’ Fund with the organisational help of the National Wine Centre.

At 11 am on Friday 11 November for the seventh time we shall witness the opening of the first bottles of wine of the new vintage – St. Martin’s wines. This year wine lovers can look forward to a record approximately 2 000 000 bottles of white, rosé and red St. Martin’s wines in shops, restaurants and wine cellars.

Between 13th and 15th October the seventh edition of the international wine competition "Emozioni dal Mondo: Merlot e Cabernet Insieme" (Emotions of the World: Merlot and Cabernet Together) took place in the wine capital of Lombardy, the heart of the Valcalepio DOC region, this year in the historical environs of the Visconti Palace not far from Bergamo.

Within the mere six years of their recent existence, St. Martin’s wines have become a literally nationwide phenomenon. Their popularity is increasing hand in hand with consumption year by year, to the delight of winemakers and their customers. After last year’s sale of over a million and a half bottles of St. Martin’s wines, it is most likely that this year the two million mark will be reached. The course of the harvest so far indicates that thanks to the exceptionally favourable September weather, the wines of the 2011 vintage shall be of excellent quality.

The title of the best Sauvignon Blanc in the show and a further 79 medals were awarded to Moravian winemakers at the largest and most prominent international wine exhibition in the USA, the International Wine Competition, which was held in San Francisco. The participation of our wines took place with the financial support of the Wine Fund of the Czech Republic and with the organisational assistance of the National Wine Centre.

In the prestigious international wine competition Decanter World Wine Awards staged in London, a record number of red wines from the Czech Republic met with success. 12 out of a total of 18 red Moravian wine entries received recognition of some kind. This bears witness to the growing quality of our red wines, with evaluators in even the greatest international contests now beginning to take notice. And neither did our white and rosé wines miss out.
